Preaching God's Word ... Caring About You
What We Believe from the Bible

We believe that God has chosen to reveal Himself to human beings in both "Natural" Revelation (Creation ... the Earth) and "Special" Revelation (the Bible).

What we believe about God IS of the greatest importance.  Your understanding of Yourself, of Others, and of God ... is crucial to your relationships, your goals and daily responsibilities, and a loving, growing, healthy outlook for the future.

Our true and soild wisdom (as John Calvin expresses it) "... consists almost entirely of two parts: the Knowledge of God, and of Ourselves."
Connected by many ties, which gives birth to the other?
Can you survey yourself ... without soon thinking about God?
We have not evolved, or been endowed with all that makes us human by ourselves!
But the more we discover about ourselves, the more displeased with ourselves we become ... until we begin to seek God.

God has created us in His Image, so "a sense of deity is naturally engraved on the human heart."
Yet, because of a word that describes each person in the world, and yet has fallen into disuse by most people we interact with today, the word SIN (see that "I" in the middle?) ... none of us seeks God on our own.

Nor could we know Him ... unless He chose to reveal what we need to know about His great love for us in His Word the Bible.

We believe that God has done so!
We invite you to come and know God better ... as the Bible is central in our church services, Pioneer Club, Personal Prayer Support and what the Lord has in mind to do through and for the people who gather here in Jesus' Name until He comes again!

OK - Here's Bible truth organized into Categories that Illuminate Who God Is and Who We Are (Doctrine!) to help  people worship and learn about God at Warminster Baptist Church.

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

Warminster Baptist Church

1. The Bible. We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired of’ God, and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life.

References: 2 Tim. 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20,21; John 10:35; I Corinthians 2:13; Psalm 119:105

2. God. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

References: Luke 3:21,22; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14;

Deuteronomy 6:4

3. The Person of Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.

References: John 1:1,14,18; 1Timothy 2:5; Luke 1:35; Colossians 2:9

4. The Death of Christ. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him and receive Him as Personal Saviour are justified on the ground of His shed blood.

References:1 Thessalonians 5:10; Titus 2:14; John 3:16; 1 Timothy 2:6; Hebrews 9:26; Romans 5:1

5. The Resurrection and Present Work of Christ. We believe in the resurrection of’the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us – as High Priest and Advocate.

References: Romans 10:9; Ephesians 1:20; Romans. 8:34; Hebrews 9:11; Acts 1:9-11; Ephesians 4:8

6. Man. We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but

also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and are now sinners, by choice - hopelessly lost apart from the grace of God.

References: Genesis 1:26, 27 and 3:19; Ecclesiastes 7:29; Romans 3:23, 6:23 and 5:12-21; Ephesians 2:1-3; Psalm 14:2,3

7. Salvation. We believe that all who personally receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become eternally-secure children of God.

References: John 1:11-13, 3:1-7, 3:16, 5:13 and 10:28-29; Ephesians 2:8,9; Acts 16:31; Romans 5:1 and 10:9,10

8. The Return of Christ. We believe in “that blessed hope”, the personal, bodily and imminent return of our Lord in the air for all believers in Christ; followed by the Tribulation, and then the personal, visible and glorious return of Christ to the earth to establish His millennial Kingdom.

References: Matthew 25:31; I Thessalonians 4:13-17; James 5:8; Hebrews 10:37; 1 Thessalonians 5: 4-10; Revelation 20:1-15

9. Resurrection and Eternal State. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the lost, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost.

References: 1 Corinthians 15:52; Philippians 3:21; Luke 20:36; John 3:15-18, 3:36, 5:24; Revelation 20:10-15

10. The Holy Spirit. We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin; baptizes, indwells, and seals all true believers in Christ; and fills those yielded to God.

References: Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; John 3:3-6; Ephesians 4:30; 1 Corinthians 6:19: Titus 3:5

11. Spiritual Gifts. We believe that to equip believers to serve God, the Holy Spirit has given them spiritual gifts. While some of the spiritual gifts provided for use by the early church are no longer provided today (namely tongues, miracles and healings), God Himself continues to perform miracles and grant healing in accordance with His Will.

References: Romans 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians chapters 12, 13, 14; Ephesians 4:11-15

12. Angels and Satan. We believe that angels were created holy, but now exist as fallen and unfallen. Satan is a personal being, the author of the fall and ruler of this world system; he maintains spiritual warfare with Christ and His Church; his destiny is eternal punishment.

References: Gen. 3:15; Job 1:6—7; Psalm 148:2—5 Jude 6; Matt. 25:41; Col. 1:16; Rev. 20:2—10; Eph. 6:11—12

13. The Church. We believe that the Church, the body and bride of Christ, consists of all true believers; it is formed by the baptism of the Holy Spirit; and has as its purpose the glorification of God by bringing men to maturity in Christ through evangelism and disciple—making.

References: Matt. 28:19—20; Acts 1:8; Eph. 1:22,23; Eph. 4:11—16; Eph. 5:24,25,30; I Corinthians 12:13,27

14. Church Ordinances. We believe that the ordinances of water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are to be observed in obedience to the commands of our Lord. The Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the Lord’s death until He comes. Baptism by immersion is a testimony: portraying the union of the believer with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

References: Matt. 28:19—20; I Corinthians 11:23—26; Romans 6:3—5; Col. 2:12
